X-Mas in NY: Take Two (The Visitors)

The best part of the holidays is here- visiting time. First a weekend with my old roommate and close bud- Meaghan. Now Brendan's sister, Eleanor, is here for the Christmas week. Lots of outings, shopping and dinners with friends to come. Below some pictures and video...

Heading home- we all rock out together:

The entire subway was asleep (and all of us apparently dreaming of above man).

Going to our first Christmas party of the week, so we break out our best fake tattoos. Here's Brendan's:

And mine:

And best of all, Eleanors: Cat Bride and Groom.

(Merry Christmas)

X-Mas in New York...Take One

Well, christmas is in full force here in the city. There's been a little bit of snow and some cold days but altogether bearable.

Garity's two sisters and mother were in town for a visit full of shopping, good food and a crazy dance/circus/stunt show at Streb dance space. It was full of crazy moves where people throw themselves onto small mats from really high places. You can see some videos here.

Last weekend we went to see our dear friend Kurt's choir perform a christmas show at a really gorgeous church in the upper west side. It was really wonderful. I only wish we got a picture of Kurt before he changed out of his suite because he was so handsome.

In the next couple of weeks we are expecting a couple of visitors and it looks like I might have landed some design work so it will be a pretty busy last few weeks. Here's hoping I finish sewing my pants.

Coats get bigger. Subways get cramped.
These things light up and dance to a crazy song but only after the people inside get off work.
Kind of creepy huh?Giants like X-Mas too.
Rockafeller Center.
People make do.Our friend Kurt's choir. He's the blur in the middle.
Garity at Strub enjoying some cotton candy.Cold and steamy city.
Tacky stuff galore.

A little massage from Kurt's choir.

Boston and Back.

Last weekend we took a bus trip to Boston to see the city. We took a chinatown bus and stayed for two nights at a hostel in the south end. The city was really beautiful but seemed a little quiet from what we have grown accustomed to here in New York.

While scanning the local alt weekly we found a listing for Halifax's favorite band, Dog Day, playing at a bar in a suburb across the river from Boston. We went to the show and found out that they would also be playing three shows in New York over the fallowing few days. I was able to see them once more in Manhattan before they left town to finish their big North American tour.

Here are some of the pictures that we took while in Boston. Our main day there was pretty rainy so the camera didn't get much use.

Stay tuned for some fashion shots of my almost complete warm up jacket and the pants that I will be making next.
